The United Nations reports a growing concern about the abuse and violence that women go through on regular basis. They report that about 35% of women have been abused and violated in their lifetime. These forms of abuse are enhanced in difficult times such as the COVID-19 pandemic, conflicts, humanitarian crises and other forms of disasters.

On October 2, 2021, a young British French lady endured the most gruesome form of violence and murder by her boyfriend in Tirana Albania. The circumstances leading to the violence and her untimely death is still sketchy and unknown. This corroborates UN report that only 10% of victims would likely report any incidents to law-enforcement authorities. Generally, some victims are most likely to discuss or report actions of abuse to friends and relatives.

The Millicent Foundation has been set up as a charitable organization in her honour, and also in honour of several thousands of women who had to experience any form of abuse and violence.

Whilst abuse and violence are not unavoidable, this Foundation recognizes that they can be reduced and banished from our society. This report provides a plan of the roles, aim and objectivities of the organization, key activities, the organizational and governance structure, the financial plan, as well as the opportunities and challenges that it might encounter.

The goal of this plan is to design and implement a road map that will help deliver services to provide a safer society for all women. It also outlines the specific strategies for service delivery, human resource empowerment and training to reduce and prevent violence and abuse for the changing needs of society.
